The counter and the stockroom stop disagreeing

One shop or fifty. A sale moves that location's figure the moment it rings, the reorder point watching it is the one you set for that branch, and the drawer is counted against what the till says at close.

What the week actually looks like

None of this is a software problem yet. It is the shape of the trade, and it is what the setup below is built around.

01

The customer finds the oversell before you do

The shelf and the system drift apart over weeks, quietly, and the person standing at the counter is the one who discovers it.

02

Reordering is a walk-round

You buy what you can see missing, which is never the same as what is about to be. The lines that move fastest are the ones that run out.

03

Branches become separate businesses

Each keeps its own prices, its own count and its own sheet, and the group figure is whichever one got typed up last.

How it runs instead

Four steps, in the order this trade meets them. Everything else is a keystroke away, not a module you buy.

  1. 01

    Ring it

The sale writes a movement against that location, not the company, so the branch figure is right before the customer has their bag.

  2. 02

    Let the shelf ask

Reorder points sit per store. A busy site trips at a different number to a quiet one, and both raise against the supplier's real lead time.

  3. 03

Move it instead of buying it

If the stock is at another branch, transfer it. In-transit is counted at neither end, and lines can arrive in parts.

  4. 04

    Count the drawer

Each register closes on its own float and its own shift, and a shortfall is recorded against whoever closed it rather than absorbed.

The screens you open on

Counter, stockroom and back office on the same set of numbers, whether you run one shop or fifty.

  • Point of Sale
  • Stock
  • Products

Set at signup and changed whenever you like. It decides what you land on, not what you can reach.

  • Stock that never disagrees with the till
  • Transfers between branches in a couple of taps
  • Reorder points tuned per store, not per company

What retail & stores usually switch on

Settings, not plans or add-ons. Turn any of them on later, or never.

A register per site, closed per shift
Its own float, its own drawer count, and the variance flagged against whoever closed it.

Where you trade

Cash, transfer and card on the same sale

Most counters here settle part in cash, part by transfer, with the card terminal a separate box on the desk. One order can take more than one payment and still print one receipt. When the line drops the till keeps selling and syncs in the order the sales were rung. VAT is charged at the rate of the country the sale happened in, not the country the browser is in.

−72%

oversells in the first quarter

We stopped selling what we didn't have. The tills and the stockroom finally agree with each other.

Questions from retail & stores

Do I need a barcode scanner?

No. Any USB or Bluetooth scanner that types works, because a scan is just fast keyboard input into the search box, though you can run the whole counter by searching a name or a SKU if you would rather not buy one yet.

Can I price differently in different branches?

Not yet, and it is worth knowing before you move. Cost, reorder points and bin locations are all held per site, so a mall shop and a roadside one report their own margin. The sell price is the one exception, held as a single list price per item. If per-branch pricing is the thing you need, tell us before you migrate rather than after.

What happens if a cashier voids a sale?

It is logged with their name, the time and the reason. Voids and discounts are attributable to a person for two years, which is usually the point of asking.

Most of you are two of these at once

A hotel is a bar, a kitchen and a shop. You never pick one and lose the rest.
