What the week actually looks like

None of this is a software problem yet. It is the shape of the trade, and it is what the setup below is built around.

01

The group number arrives too late to use

By the time every site has reported, the week it describes is over and the decision it was meant to inform has already been made.

02

Managers can see too much or too little

Either they are locked out of the figures they need to run their floor, or they can read the whole group's costs. Most systems only offer those two settings.

03

Stock is in the wrong building

One site is out and another is sitting on six months of it, and nobody finds out until a purchase order is already raised.

How it runs instead

Four steps, in the order this trade meets them. Everything else is a keystroke away, not a module you buy.

  1. 01

    Roll up without flattening

Every aggregate reads across locations and drills back to the one that caused it, so a group figure is a starting point rather than an answer.

  2. 02

    Scope people to their site

A manager gets their location, with its stock, its registers and its team, and the group stays with whoever owns the group.

  3. 03

    Move stock between sites

Transfers leave one location and arrive at another with nothing double-counted in between, and lines can arrive in parts.

  4. 04

    Compare like for like

Sell-through, margin and dead stock per site, on the same definitions, so the comparison is real rather than a difference in how two people count.

The screens you open on

Roll every site up into one view, then drill back down to the shelf that's empty.

Where you trade

Sites that lose the line, on different days

A group of shops across a city does not lose connectivity together. One site drops on Tuesday, another on Friday. Every till holds its own catalogue and queue, so a site keeps trading through its own outage and syncs when it comes back. The group figure catches up on its own; nobody phones anybody to read out totals.

one consolidated figure

I stopped chasing site reports on Mondays. The number is already there, and I can see which shop moved it.

Questions from malls & multi-store

Is there a limit on locations?

Not technically, but be clear on the cost: billing is per active location. Starter covers one, Growth up to five, and Enterprise is unlimited with volume pricing from twenty. Adding a site is a line on the bill, not a migration.

Can a manager see other sites?

Only if you grant it. Access is scoped per location, and the one extra permission somebody needs can be granted on its own without promoting them.

Do transfers need approval?

They can. A transfer stays a draft until somebody signs it off, which is usually what you want between sites that report separately.

Most of you are two of these at once

A hotel is a bar, a kitchen and a shop. You never pick one and lose the rest.
